Summer 2009 Blockbusters!

We're going to have some great popcorn flicks these coming months!

Star Trek

Ohura + Spock?! Oops! Sorry, spoiler. I'm excited to see Abram's take on this verse. And as always STAR WARS > Star Trek. Always.

Terminator: Salvation

Been wanting to see this part of the John Connor story since seeing my brother's theatrical bootleg on VHS back in the 90's. Yay cyborgs!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Transformer "Revenge of the Fallen" trailer #3 from Bay Films/Michael Bay Dot Com on Vimeo.

Dan hates Michael Bay. I like his films when my brain is shut off- they're just so fun. Yay robots!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

I started memorizing the spells they use and saying them randomly. Watch out for my killing curse! Yay wizards!

Where the Wild Things Are

Spike Jonze is taking the children's masterpiece and making a movie! OH SHIT! But really, I'm excited to finally see this in moving picture, even though I didn't particularly enjoy the original art from the book.

GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra

G.I. JOE trailer in HD

Fuck that subtitle, but damn. It's Crackdown: the Movie! Hahaha.. And it looks like some mindless fun.

review: WATCHMEN

There are plenty of long ass reviews online (1. 2. 3. 4. 5.) so I'm going to make mine short.
Unfortunately they cut out my favorite quote from the movie (because it goes along with the therapist's extended involvement in the graphic novel:
Why do we argue? Life's so fragile, a successful virus clinging to a speck of mud suspended in endless nothing.
Go see it.

Daft Punk scores TRON 2?

The Neptunes Remix is one of my favorite joints

Ain't It Cool says that the amazing Daft Punk* will be providing the score to the long-awaited sequel to Disney's classic TRON.

*Interstella 5555 is my shit.

Watching the WATCHMEN

A week from now we'll be treated (FINALLY!) to a big screen adaptation of one of the most celebrated pieces of contemporary literature in history. This is no action film- it's a character drama using superheroes as the chess pieces.

Beware spoilers below! If you haven't read WATCHMEN yet, two things: 1.) you're lame. 2.) you really need to read this asap. Skip these videos if you don't want anything spoiled:

The story elements and situations by Alan Moore (who also wrote V For Vendetta amongst many more comics and graphic novels) were ahead of it's time and posed many thoughts about we would do in these certain situations. Some might even draw comparisons between events in the graphic novel and events in recent American history (9/11 anyone?). If you don't believe me, would TIME Magazine change your mind?

WATCHMEN is directed by Zack Snyder, written by David Hayter, Alex Tse and Dave Gibbons, stars Malin Ackerman, Billy Cruddup, Matthew Goode, Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffery Dean Morgan, Patrick Wilson and Carla Gugino. The film runs at 2 hrs 34 min. If you know about Tales of the Black Freighter and Under the Hood, those sections are already available on DVD and Blu Ray. There's talke of a super big director's edition that's coming to DVD and Blu Ray. Oh Shit.
I'll either see it at the Southcenter IMAX or the Cinerama.

PS
Buy some Nite Owl Coffee!

trailer: Terminator Salvation

CHECK THIS OUT NOW.

I have full support and trust in McG now. He and the cast will hopefully give us a great chapter in the Terminator universe and not a Charlie's Angels 2.

"I AM smiling."

Black Dynamite is a film by Scott Sanders starring Michael Jai White. It's a 70's blaxpoitation film homage.

WATCH THE TRAILER HERE!
It's dope as fuck. Arsenio Hall is in the movie!

Watchmen is, by far, one of my favorite pieces of literature ever.

You have time to read the graphic novel if you haven't already. Do it now.

Kung Fu Panda

I'm watching Kung Fu Panda at Sammee/Sheena/Tiff's and in the movie when someone passes away (see: becomes one with the Force) a whole bunch of blossoms from a peach tree engulf them. At that moment I reminded Mikey of the ending boss fight from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater where Naked Snake fights The Boss in the field of Cherry Blossoms. Sheena and Tiff both exclaimed "Geeks.". YEAH, SO?!

I then asked Sheena if I could borrow her laptop to IMDb the cast. Then I promptly googled a picture of the MGS3 boss fight:

Which brought me to the reason I posted this. This picture above is part of an article about someone's favorite moments in the Metal Gear Solid series: Metal Gear Solid - My Favorite Moments.

Kung Fu Panda is a dope ass movie btw. Does anyone know how to get mp4's onto a 16gb 4th gen iPod nano? I got a black one a week ago and I've downloaded a bunch of movies, but they "can't be put on" says iTunes. wtf.

Sam took this because she said we look like little kids

You can see me in the above picture actually blogging this.

Who are the Taken?

One of my personal training clients invested in an independent horror film that's finally seeing a wide release.

I present... THE TAKEN.
